We were thrilled to host GAFD’s Legacy Event 2025, a special luncheon held on May 10 at The Austin Club in historic downtown Austin, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. The event was open to everyone.
We honored the incredible legacy of Texana Faulk Conn, a tireless advocate whose impact on Deaf services and equality in Austin and Travis County continues to inspire. We also celebrated the founding of Professional Interpreter/Deaf Social Services and key milestones in Deaf advocacy and community support in Travis County and beyond.
Texana’s many contributions were celebrated, as she was a truly extraordinary advocate and a local force of nature. Lunch and refreshments were provided.
The afternoon was filled with camaraderie, storytelling, and a deep dive into the history that shaped Deaf services in our community. Sponsored by the Greater Austin Foundation for the Deaf, admission was free, and donations were encouraged.
Donations directly benefited the clients and programs of Travis County Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
The event was co-hosted by Sharon Hassell-Talbot and Mark Seeger.
