Greater Austin Foundation for the Deaf Brings the Joy of Broadway to the Deaf Community

Austin, TX – February 8, 2025 – This past Saturday, February 8, the Greater Austin Foundation for the Deaf (GAFD) proudly hosted an unforgettable evening of theater at the renowned Zach Theatre. In its ongoing commitment to accessibility and inclusion, the organization provided tickets for 25 attendees to experience the ASL-signed and captioned performance of The Jersey Boys.

The electrifying production transported audiences back to the golden era of the 1950s, bringing to life the music and legacy of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. Through seamless sign language interpretation and open captioning, Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing attendees were able to fully immerse themselves in the show’s rich storytelling and iconic musical numbers.

“Experiencing live theater should be accessible to everyone, and events like this allow the Deaf community to engage with the arts without barriers,” said Dr. Jerry Katz, a representative from GAFD. “The joy and nostalgia on our attendees' faces truly demonstrated the power of inclusive performances.”

GAFD remains committed to supporting cultural and artistic experiences for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community in the Greater Austin area. By partnering with theaters and performance venues, the organization continues to advocate for more accessible entertainment options.
